Nutritional Approach
Nutrition is complex- not because it inherently is but because there is so much information about it everywhere. Being healthy and thriving is a big job. That’s because there are so many factors involved – stress management, environmental factors, genetics, sleeping habits, exercise levels, and many more.
Clearly, it’s not just what we eat that influences our health but looking at our food choices is a very good starting point when wanting to make positive changes to our overall health. After all, if we are privileged enough, eating and drinking is something we do every day, often multiple times a day- it’s probably crucial that we get it right.
Some of the principles I adopt personally as well advocate and encourage are:
-
Consumption of whole, unprocessed foods. Once this solid groundwork is established, further nutritional tweaks and adjustments can be made.
-
No calorie counting- It sounds like a lot of work to do every day.
-
Eat till you’re satisfied and when you’re hungry- I don’t think you have to eat breakfast every day if you’re not hungry, especially if you’re eating quality foods the rest of the time.
Once we invest time to understand our body and the foods that suit each of us as individuals, we will naturally choose the right foods to eat- just because it makes us feel good!
