Growing up, I remember my parents' constant reminder that ''The first wealth is health''. Obviously it didn't mean much to me then but it all started making sense when I began to see the impact ill-health had on family members and friends who suffered from diseases such as cancer, COPD, heart disease, and diabetes. The implications these diseases had went far beyond physical effects. They took a toll on my loved ones' mental, emotional and needless to say, financial health. As I was figuring out my academic and career passions, these personal experiences eventually shaped the road my life was to go down.
My biggest motivation for working in a private practice role is to be able to offer people evidence-based, personalised health and nutrition advice while they are in a position to take positive steps towards better health.
